A not-so-little project my sister's been working on for some time.  Can't wait to see the final product!

School's In for Summer

This week I attended my first college course in three years. It was quite surprising to discover that I actually missed being in class. When I graduated from college in 2007, I was completely over school. The last thing I wanted to do was think about continuing my education in any capacity.

While many people in my life have suggested I go back, I just couldn't see myself doing it. Enter my new boyfriend, Ben, who has been urging me to continue my studies pretty much from the day I met him. He's a very practical guy, and basically wouldn't accept any of my shallow and stupid arguments for why I couldn't go back. His persuasion was annoying at times, but thankfully he didn't let my irritation stop him.

After much introspection, I realized I was ready for school again. All of the drama and bad feelings I had associated with my last year at college was (mostly) behind me. Ben was right- there was really no reason for me not to go back to school. I owed it to myself to at least try.

While it is strange to be back in a college environment after such a long time, it was pleasantly familiar as well. I'm excited to start really diving into the subject (web design using Dreamweaver CS5), and even looking forward to homework. (It's been awhile, OK? I'm sure my thoughts on this will change soon enough.) I'll be taking more web design classes in the fall, and hope to possibly land an internship or part-time job in the field by next spring.

I guess all of this is just so I can say thank you to my wonderful boyfriend. I'm really glad you challenged me to do what I needed to do, even if I didn't want to at the time. I love you. :)

(BTW, my gratitude does not extend to watching your crappy movies, so don't even ask.)

CA Lomography Fun

Since I don't take my Lomo Action Sampler everywhere I go (a terrible habit I must break!), it sometimes takes awhile before I finish a roll of film. Here are some shots from last year's Orange Country Fair that I just got developed:

Back to reality

I've been home for two days, and I already miss Australia. I had a great time, despite the rain that poured during most of my visit (which I was repeatedly told never happens). Photos of my trip will be posted soon, including some fun Lomography shots I'm getting developed.

In the mean time, I'd like to share my favorite souvenir, frankie magazine!

This Aussie publication covers a variety of topics: arts & crafts, photography, cooking, fashion, entertainment, politics, travel. I absolutely love everything about frankie, right down to it's matte pages. Unfortunately, an international subscription is quite pricey. While, I don't think I'll be subscribing as a birthday gift to myself, I might be able to afford it by Christmas.

The next issue hits newsstands June 23, so maybe I'll sweet talk my boyfriend into bringing me a copy when he visits in August.
