Etsy Store Sneaky Peaky

My Etsy store is open! Well... sort of.

Due to my increasingly busy schedule, I've only had time to finish, photograph, and list a few items. But I have to start somewhere, right? In the next few weeks I'll have more items for sale (I'm working on some new cards today), and will offer custom orders in June.

In the mean time, please feel free to leave me feedback, suggestions, or (friendly) criticism about my store. Is there anything you'd like to see for sale? Am I missing any details in my shop policies section? Does my profile need some tweaking? Let me know!

Just give me time, time, time, time, time (Just give me some)

I've been very busy lately, and unfortunately have been neglecting my little blog. Updates and new artwork are coming soon, provided I can find enough hours in the day (and enough energy) to complete all the things on my to-do list:
  • I've started a new part-time job. It's good to have the money, but retail can really tire you out!
  • I'm making arrangements to start school again this summer. I've thought about going back since I got my BFA almost three years ago, but the timing wasn't right until now. Once classes start I'll be even more pressed for time, so I should feel lucky to only be worrying about counseling appointments and finding the time to get an ID card right now. Soon I'll be juggling classes, homework, and internships again.
  • My Etsy store is really close to launching! I want everything to be on the up-and-up before I open for business, so I'm patiently awaiting my seller's permit (and subsequently, my business license). This will mean making a lot more merchandise, and a lot less personal art, but at least I'm still creating, right?
  • I've also committed myself to making my mom two new bowls: one for the house, and one to give a coworker as a gift. (I should really get those done this week...)

Finished & More In Progress

Paper with sewn detail.

The "pocket" created by the origami folds are a great place to stash a small piece of candy!

Here's the next card I've been working on:

This one will feature some more stitched detailing besides just that on the background paper.

(Early) Spring Cleaning

I've been cleaning my hard drive, and keep coming across files from my college days. This is a series of tonal studies done for a computer based painting class using Corel Painter IX:

I haven't used Painter in awhile, and am beginning to become reacquainted with the software. While I enjoy how easy it is to "paint" digitally, I miss actual painting more. My easel and brushes have been sitting in the garage since last May, but I haven't felt the urge to use them until more recently. I think my project this weekend will be making a new palette (I prefer glass palettes, and my old one was unfortunately broken months ago), and finally get going on my mom's Mother's Day gift.

Olympic Fever

The 2010 Vancouver Olympics are underway, and I absolutely love Canada's design sense. While a lot of attention is paid to the medals, I'm more in love with the podium:
